London's "Pretty School" Graduation!

The kids: Mason, Ethan, Kaelyn, Jada, and London
My old neighborhood friends and I have been doing a Joy School for our 5 kids since the fall, and Tuesday night was graduation! Monique threw together a darling program and BBQ for everyone. Preschool was the highlight of London's week. Although it took a lot of preparation when it was our turn to teach, it was worth it! This year, London learned the Pledge of Allegance, letter recognition and sounds, how to spell and write her name, and the list goes on! She definitely isn't the easiest kid to teach, so I'm very grateful for good friends who love her and are so patient with her!
London was pretty typical at the graduation; stubborn but pretty cute! She was great in the rehearsal and all but refused to participate when it was show time. Classic! I'm still accepting the fact that my kid is a non-conformist. She's quite the individual and I'm sure those qualities will suit her well later in life. (still frustrating for now!) She just stood there while all the kids sang songs and danced. All the kids wore cute "cap and gown" ensembles and I guess it just wasn't London's style. It took all the patience I had to convince her to at least join the group outside so that she could recieve her "diploma." We all had a great time in the end, and lots of fun memories!

Singing her ABC's

She sort of participated here...

Me and London- she finally succombed and put on the hat for one picture!

You moms are so stinking adorable! Love all the things you did with the kids. I just love Joy school. London sounds a lot like my child. Anything I want her to do - no way won't do it. But my thinking is right along with yours. They will be the leaders when they grow up, not the followers! love it! Yet it tries my patience ;)

I can just imagine how frustrated you probably were. You are such a good mom, so so patient! She is always true to herself! Who cares if she didn't want to participate at least she learned and looked DARLING right!? Love ya!

Of course London is the cutest one there with her little Gymboree outift. HOLY CRAP....I think I hear "Luka" playing in the background-I am concerned for you. Thanks for your kind words you wrote the other day about our situation. You are so sweet.

I looked it up and the name London means "Fierce ruler of the world". Yeah, I think that fits! She just cant help but be strong and independant.

So fun! I'm sad it's over, now we can just do field trips and play groups!

Looks like fun! Kids have a mind of their own and i think to myself several times per day "it's a good thing that you are cute!"

Good for you guys. I'm impressed with anyone who does Joy School. Just a sidenote: I lived in the basement of the origianl Joy School when I was a newborn in Logan. My Mom and Dad had zero money and cleaned the school for free rent. Kinda funny!

So cute! I have wanted to do that with my kids, but there isn't anyone in my area to do it with. Good work!
