Cake Craziness!

Over the weekend, I helped my mom cater and decorate for a little girls birthday party. We had to make cake and enough food for 50+ folks. It's amazing how much time and energy goes into events like this! The mom wanted a two-tiered cake, but gave me complete creative control. It's always fun playing around with new ideas, but unless you do cakes, you have no idea how long they take! They're not hard, just time consuming, especially when you've got 2 kids hanging on your legs the ENTIRE time!
The party was a "butterflies and fairies" theme. So fun to decorate so girly!

We did salad, fruit and veggie platters, apples with dip, colored bread sandwiches (shaped like flowers and butterflies), magic (pretzel)wands, cupcakes, punch with a frozen fruit ring floating in it, and of course, the cake. Yeah, it was a lot of work, but it turned out even cuter than we thought!

Look at you go! That stuff is adorable! I wish I could see some of it closer. How in heaven's name do you make colored bread sandwiches, and what did you put on the pretzel wands?? I bet it took FOREVER getting everything done. What a lucky little girl! She will love it.

The set up is really cute. I didn't even realize there are people out there who catered Birthday parties.

How impressive. I just learned something new about you. That is the cutest cake. You'll have to take your cake making and creative ideas to Puerto Rico. They won't know what hit them. Gosh, from the looks of that, I need to really step it up in my birthday planning!

Jylaire, So I about passed out when I clicked on your blog from a common friends blog and saw a picture of the exact cake that my sister had at her babies B-day party last week. So I start reading and find out you and your mom did it! How Crazy. My sister told me all about "JILL" catering Sophies party but I didn't know you helped too. I guess your mom is my sisters neighbor. It was crazy to see my sisters pictures on her blog then see her house all over your blog. What a small world. Too bad I didn't get to go though. These are the times I feel really sad that I live in NY. Anyway, it was way to cute of a party. I hope she took lots of pictures for Sophie so one day she will appreciate all the work that went into her 1st Birthday party! Laters Charissa
