Payne Family Reunion

Beck and Grandpa Payne throwing rocks in the river

Friday, my mom and I took the kids and headed up to Rockport (by Jordanelle) for the annual Payne family reunion. Matt, lucky him, had a previous engagement (aka guys night out) and couldn't make it. We usually just go up for a couple of hours or so, but the rest of the extended family is there camping for 3 or 4 days. I'll be honest and say that I wasn't looking forward to this blessed event, but ended up having a good time. Grandma Payne made a yummy dinner and I was able to chat with some cousins that I hadn't seen in years. The kids loved throwing rocks into the river and playing with relatives pets. (I dare say there were more pets there than humans) I was just glad that my cousin Hydee showed up to hang out with us and join together in avoiding certain great-aunts who insist on kissing us on the mouth...Don't you just love families???

My grandpa thought giving whistles to my kids was a great idea. It wasn't.

This would be Londy's new "mom's taking another picture of me" face

My moms side of the family has a big family reunion and I have never been to it. I am sure I would feel the same way you do about yours. And once I got there it would be lots of fun.
It is fun to see people our parents grew up with.

CUTE pictures.

Are you guys still moving? Did I miss something?

I have a hard time haning out with my mom's side of the family. Luckily they don't really have a family reunion, so it works out nice. Glad to hear you had a good time once you got there though!!

How fun. I love the whistles. I am sure you took those away as soon as you could. ;)

If I had known that you or Heidi would have been present I might have tried going myself! Unfortuantly, I was very busy. (Okay not really, but dont tell.) My favorite thing about this side of the family is when the 250 pound women put on skin tight levi's (because their camping of coarse) and some sexy red 3" high heels that sink into the grass or loose dirt with every step. I mean high heels are already a complicated thing without grass, and the extra weight! We can look forward to that forever because when my Mom passed, Grandpa gave all of her high heels (like 200 pair) to his sisters and their daughters! Wahoo.

Sounds like you like family gathering as much as I do. Glad you had a good time! I had one a couple of weeks ago and was dreading it but it ended up being awesome too.
