She's 18 months!

I can't believe my little Piper is already 18 months. I desperately want to slow her down so that I can enjoy this stage for a little longer! She had her well child check last week (hence the half nakey picture) and she checked out great! She still isn't saying as many words as the other kids did, but she's definitely trying to these days. Her stats are:
Height: 31.5" (46%)
Weight: 21 lbs (7%)
Head: 47 cm (63%)
Basically, she's a sort of tall, skinny bobble head. She couldn't be more perfect to me if she tried!
I just gave her another haircut and still can't believe how blonde she's turning out to be! She's an absolute joy! We love you Pippi!

I've blogged like a mad woman tonight. But it's New Years Eve you say? Yes it is. Matt is working and beings that I'm not a huge fan of the holiday, I'm pretty content hanging out at home catching up on posting. I print out my blog every year as a journal for my family, so I'm feeling pretty stressed to get caught up tonight before another year starts! Last year I wrote letters to my kids and had planned on doing it again this year. Honestly, if I wrote them tonight, as planned, it would be pretty difficult. It's been a very long night with my kids. Matt left around 5, after a wonderful, if I do say so myself, New Years Eve dinner. The kids and I hung out and played for a solid 30 minutes before the naughtiness started. We tried taking turns playing Super Mario Bros on the Wii until both London and Beck cried because their turns weren't long enough and one or both of them threw remotes at each other. Good times... Then, I sent the kids down to the basement to watch one show while I cleaned dinner up. A little bit later, London came up screaming that Beck was "stuck and had to pee really, really bad." A little confused, I ran downstairs to find Beck literally hanging from my Bowflex with a caribeaner on his beltloop. I hurried and unhooked him just in time for him to go potty. In all honesty, it was pretty hilarious, but infuriating. I calmly told London upstairs that she can't do that again because Beckett could have really been hurt, or she could have hurt herself, or ruined the gym equipment. Then she started a tantrum that is sadly all to familliar around here. She screams and kicks and says that no one loves her. It's hard to put into words how draining these tantrums are for me. She gets to an irrational state of mind that is completely void of common sense behavior. I start out so, so calm and hold her, but end up yelling because frustrations are so high that I too, loose control. It's a vicious cycle. Needless to say, all three kids were in bed by 7:30. London went to bed screaming that she wants a new mom, and I'm sure that in the heat of it all, I probably told her to go find another one. Mature, I know. She's such a great kid, but she has been one of the greatest challenges of my life. A challenge that I feel I'm failing miserably. She was diagnosed with Oppositional Diffiant Disorder several months ago. She has seen a therapist on and off for the past couple of years. She was put on medication for anxiety which has helped immensely, but she still really struggles at times to cope in situations. We went from 2-3 hours a day of uncontrolled tantrums sparked from something small like her socks feeling "bumpy" to the everyday 6 year old fits. Those I can usually handle. I know that it's hard on her. It's hard on me too. Imagine feeling like going back to work full time just because there may be a daycare worker or nanny that could raise her better and with more patience. Not a good feeling, but definitely an idea I've tossed around. I gave up a full time career outside of the home so that I could raise my children and not miss a second. Being a mom is so rewarding, but right now it's a huge challenge. I love my children more than anything. I know everyone out there has challenges in life, in marriage, and in parenting. I am so grateful to a loving Heavenly Father who sent me Matt. I think he knew just how hard parenting would be for me, so he gave me the world's greatest, easiest marriage. It's something I definitely don't take for granted. This year overall, has been one of learning and growing. We have watched our children grow and love seeing glimpses of the people they'll someday be. It worries me so much that my reactions to London's behaviors are just making her worse and will scar her for life. At the moment, I have a copy of "The Power of Positive Parenting" on my lap. I'll give anything a try! Enough rambling. Maybe I'll get to the kids' letters next week! We'll see...

Christmas Day!

Two of the greatest Christmas morning pictures ever! Piper wasn't even sad that morning, just bugged that London was trying to hold her on her lap! Christmas was absolutely wonderful!!! I loved, loved, loved it! We started it off at our house where Santa was very generous! The kids were thrilled with what he brought; a pink kitchen for Piper, a Batcave and Star Wars Legos for Beck, and a dollhouse and American Girl bed for London. First the kids looked at the Santa stuff then settled down to open stockings! London was actually more excited about the "ipod" in her stocking than about anything else! We downloaded her favorite songs and she and Beck listen to it constantly! Then, the kids opened gifts from us and again were so cute and thankful for everything! When all was opened, we got ready and headed to Sandy to celebrate with Matt's mom, Wade, Melissa, and the kids. My camera battery died, so I have no pictures of the rest of the day, but we spent a long time there Christmas morning and had a wonderful time! Grammy spoiled us rotten! From there, we headed to Aunt Janines for a bit, then straight to my mom's. My mom went overboard too! (What is it with grandmas?!?) We of course had awesome stockings and tons of fun gifts to open. Then we had a yummy dinner and visited some more! We didn't end up getting home until after 8:00pm. We really had a perfect day. The kids were great, we saw tons of family, and we were able to celebrate Christ's birth. How can you top that?

This is my favorite pic of Beck. I'm pretty sure the next words from his mouth were.."What the...?" So cute!

Looking at what Santa brought!

Thrilled with a Transformers coloring book!

Londy and her ipod!

Cutest story...I let the kids pick something out for Matt every year at the dollar store. This year, London saw one of those "tatoo sleeves" and said, "Daddy will laugh so hard at this!" and had to buy it for him. He did laugh really hard!

We got Matter a new Wii so we can put the old one in the basement for the kids!

millions of princesses!

plus a Rapunzel barbie!

no kids gets more excited about clothes than Beck! He loved his new coat!

Pip was excited about her new jammies!

Piper snuggling her new baby and london excited about her new bike!

yeah, this has got to be the most unflattering picture ever. Oh well. I really like my new cookware!

Christmas Eve!

Reesey giving Beck loves...
Christmas Eve is always super crazy and fun! We meet up with my mom's best friend's family, the Hansen's, every year for breakfast and a white elephant gift exchange. This year did not disappoint! We met and Granny Annie's and had a banquet room reserved. It was so nice to have room for everyone and especially for the crazies to run around! We love this tradition! Then, we went home for about a half hour or so and then headed to lunch with my dad. We also have the tradition of doing Christmas Eve lunch with him at the Red Robin. Then onto York and Jenny's for presents. My dad got each of the older girls an "American Girl" type doll and the girls were thrilled! Beck got Beyblades and honestly Matt and York had more fun then any of the kids did playing with it! We had a really fun time! Then onto home to bake for the family dinner! We've always met at my Grandma Cooper's for Christmas Eve dinner. She passed a year and a half ago and since York and Jenny bought her home, we are still able to get together as a family to celebrate. I absolutely love getting together with family. I love seeing aunts, uncles and cousins. We seriously have so much fun when we get together!
After the dinner party, we headed home to await Santa!!! Long, long, fun day!

Our family at the Granny Annies

Piper stole my mom's reading glasses!

She was asleep in about 2 seconds after we left Red Robin for lunch!

Opening presents from Grandpa Cooper!

the girls and their dolls!

Beyblades!

Oh, Pip...

Piper is still our lil Houdini! Not only is she nakey most of the time when we come to get her from her nap (pretty much every time I forget to put a onesie on her...) but she still freaks in the middle of naps or the night because she's somehow managed to get one arm out of her footie jammies. I swear that girl is the greatest sleeper, but the wierdest!~ Don't mind the crazy hair. Definitely some good bed head!

Finally, a good snowstorm!

London and Gabi (take note of Londy's awesome snow outfit. Nothing says "cold weather" like a good plaid skort over fleece pants!)

The Beckster

We had a great snowstorm a couple of weeks ago and the kids (and Matter) took full advantage! London yelled at me to come outside and I found her next to a giant snowball; soon to be snowman! Our kids and the back door neighbors went to town making 2 giant snowmen! Too bad they all but melted the next morning!~

Christmas with Grandpa T!

Matt's dad and Cathy live in central Utah, so they usually come up the week before Christmas to celebrate with the kids. They came up on a Friday and we headed to lunch before London was out of school. As soon as she came home, we opened presents and visited for a long time until they had to head home. They got each kids an outfit and some money to but themselves something fun. The kids were thrilled! We love spending time with Grandma and Grandpa T!
