BUGGED!

My car was WAY overdue for an oil change, and being the frugal gal that I am, I almost always go to the Walmart to have it done. It takes FOREVER, but is cheap. I was driving by our local Jiffy Lube today and saw a huge banner advertising their $24.99 Signature Service. Knowing that I had a $7 coupon in my purse, I thought, hey I'll give them another try. I say another try because I used to be a faithful Jiffy Luber. That was until I found out that I had been talked into buying VERY unnecessary items/services for years. Who knew you didn't HAVE to replace the air filter every 2 months? Yeah, I had spent a fortune because I was a believing sucker! Do they target women or what? Well, I pulled up today and said I needed my oil changed. They asked no questions, just put me in a room with only The Big Nickel as reading material. Finally, they came in and asked for my info and what kind of oil I wanted. I said to put in whatever was the cheapest. He then proceeded to try and sell me an oil change costing $64.99. Did he not hear the CHEAP part? Then onto trying to selling me an oil filter. Then a new radiator cap. Then of course, more coolant. SERIOUSLY! I just want my oil changed, not a whole car makeover! Again, I said I only wanted the $24.99 deal, and wait, I have a coupon! He then proceeded to tell me that coupons are not valid on sale prices. Would have been nice to know! So bugged at the crappy salesman and myself for not going to the Walmart. How's that for venting?

Dang that Jiffy Lube! We, too, are a Wal-Mart family and will stay that way no matter how many people tell the downfalls of the huge corporate monster Wal-Mart. As long as they have popcorn chicken for under $2.00 to keep my kids entertained while I shop that will be my store!

I always make Mont do that stuff. Of course he says my car has to go to the dealership to be changed. Guess what...it costs $24.99 and they just sent us a free oil change coupon.

I always go to Master Lube down the streeet from our house and I love them. The guys are always curteous, and every once in a while suggest the air filter thing, but are totally okay when I tell them I'll have my husband change it. I think I usually pay $35 or something, but I love the fact they vacuum my car, and wash all the windows!!

Car stuff is always frustrating. It does seem that the car people are always trying to get more money from us. I guess you wont be going back to Jiffy Lube.

I love me a good rant! It makes you feel so much better huh? Yes they target you because you are a woman, but I think they try to get everyone to spend more. I wish I had the patience to wait at Walmart but really I would rather pay extra to get out of having to wait for anything, especially at Walmart. Good on you for seeing through their trickery and thievery.

How annoying!!! I hate dealing with cars. That is the man's job because yeah, we get suckered into everything and I don't know enough about cars so I just want my hubby to do it all the time. I do handle the oil changes okay though...Walmart for me too!

Oh, I hate dealing with car issues. I was suckered once into believing I had a brake light out, only to find out at the repair shop that it worked! ugh. I know it is frustrating!

Wait! Walmart does OIL CHANGES??? I had no idea!

John usually gets all those done though. I used to when I worked and I'd fork over an arm and a leg because I always bought into the 'you need a new air filter' thing.
